Allcot will be in Fitur with Hot.co.uk in Pavilion 8 Stand: 8A22

Allcot will be in the International Tourism Trade Fair, Fitur, the 28th, 29th and 30th January with hot.co.uk in Pavilion 8 Stand: 8A22, to promote their sustainability initiatives and sustainable tourism.

Hot.co.uk, an application for booking hotel rooms at the last minute, is one of the companies which rely on Allcot. They signed a 10 years agreement and thanks to it hot.co.uk becomes the first application to commit to offsetting the carbon footprint of all hotel nights systematically.

Recent studies revealed that a tourist emits between 10kg and 102kg of CO2 for each night that they spent in a room. Hot.co.uk offsets 100 kg of CO2 per stay booked through the application without additional cost to the client.

It is a pioneer initiative in the sector both nationally and globally. There is no operator in the field of hotel bookings to offset the carbon footprint automatically and for all stays.

Also, hot.co.uk neutralize emissions for all hotel bookings done through Meta Searches

The environmental project selected for the offsetting is the Cikel Brazilian Amazon REDD Project registered under the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS). The main activity of the project is to stop the planned deforestation activities and to instead conserve the forest area as a carbon sink. This forest protection project was selected not only for its environmental benefits, but also for the extended sustainability benefits the project delivers.

To get a more visual idea of this initiative, Hot.co.uk participation in this project involves the protection of 148 hectares (366 acres) of endangered forest per year. This is about the size of 5686 tennis courts.

Spanish Primera Liga football club, Getafe C.F. agreed a landmark collaboration with ALLCOT Group last summer. Under the terms of this 5 year commitment, Getafe C.F. became “one of the leading environmental and socially sustainable first tier clubs in Europe”.

Through the agreement, Getafe C.F. demonstrates its environmental commitment and support of climate-friendly operations by neutralizing the greenhouse gases (GHG) it produces. It will support a forestry project, RMDLT, with wide-ranging social benefits to the local communities; an innovative sustainable merchandising initiative using sustainable timber sourced from the forestry project will provide much needed economic benefits.

Alberto Domínguez Hidalgo, a loyal Getafe CF member, is awarded the offsetting of his carbon footprint by the club

Alberto Domínguez Hidalgo, Getafe CF supporter, has been awarded the neutralization of his carbon footprint for travelling to see home games as a part of the Superfan project developed by the club and ALLCOT Group.  The Emissions Offset Certificate was presented to him in a ceremony at the last match against Athletic C.F in the club VIP area, where he spent time with some of the club’s managers and sponsors. Also, the speaker announced this event before the match started.

Alberto Dominguez Hidalg always travels to watch Getafe CF matches by car from Navalmoral de la Mata, a town in Cáceres, Extremadura. He drives about 385 km round trip, which results in roughly a 1 tonne of C02 equivalent emissions during the football season. This is added to the total Getafe F.C footprint and the emissions are assigned for offsetting so the club further extends its sustainability initiative, to include one of their fans.

“This represents another example of how Getafe is engaging with it’s fans after allowing them to vote on the offset project the club will source its emissions from”  Grattan MacGiffin, Allcot Group Chief Commercial Officer,  explains. “Superfan is part of a continuous engagement strategy with fans and we invite them to contact the club with their own sustainability success stories, to have a chance of becoming the next Superfan”. The stories can be submitted to getafecf@allcot.com.

Through the agreement with Allcot, Getafe C.F. demonstrates its environmental commitment and support of climate-friendly operations by neutralizing the greenhouse gases (GHG) it produces. It will support a forestry project, the Brazilian Rosewood Protected Forest Project (RMDLT) with wide-ranging social benefits to the local communities; also, an innovative sustainable merchandising initiative using sustainable timber sourced from the forestry project will provide much needed economic benefits.

Hot.co.uk goes one step further in its sustainability strategy and broadens its partnership with ALLCOT
