The Caruquia hydroelectric project is a small run-of-river renewable small hydroelectric plant with a total installed capacity of 9,76 MW, located at the left margin of the Guadalupe River in the municipality of Santa Rosa de Osos, Department of Antioquia. The energy generated is sold to the National Interconnected System of Colombia.
The purpose of the project is renewable electricity generation to be supplied to Colombian power grid. So, the project increases the supply of electricity to the grid, offsetting thermal generation with a renewable source of energy, and consequently reducing greenhouse gases emissions. The project reduces 15.769 tCO2/year.
