Project description:

El Popal 20MW hydroelectric project is a run-of-river renewable small hydroelectric plant with an effective power rating of 19.9 MW, located at the left margin of the Cocorná River in the municipality of Cocorná, Department of Antioquia. The energy generated by the project feeds the National Interconnected System of Colombia.

The project increases the supply of non-GHG producing electricity to the grid and offsetting thermal generation and consequently mitigating future GHG. The project reduces approximately 47.983 tCO2/year.
